Dear Dumb Diaries: Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jim Benton
Dear Dumb Diaries: Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. Is about a girl named Jamie. In the diary she keeps it talks about the weird life. It says how people are mean and their popularity and ranks they have. Jamie talks about a girl named Angeline a lot because she doesn't like her because she's mean to her and causes a really big drama between them. Angeline makes nicknames for people not nice ones but mean ones. Jamie got peach girl there's a reason why she got that. So Jamie can’t really say anything bad to Angeline because she will make everybody call Jamie peach girl. So Jamie writes everything she wanted to say about her in her diary. Jamie promises that everything in her diary is true...or at least as true as it needs to be. In this book, Jamie contends with Angeline, the school's prettiest, most popular girl (who Jamie thinks is a goon!) and the impending visit of her troll-like little cousin. I recommend this book to people that like funny books and mostly for girls. I learned that to don't worry about what other people think just be your self. The character changes how she feels because In the beginning she felt different mood like mad, sad and upset but [SPOILER ALERT] at the end she felt better because she was finally happy because Angeline had an accident so they gave Angeline an nickname for her. No Small Thing by Natale Ghent
No Small Thing by Natale Ghent is about three siblings, Nat, Cid, and Queenie who find an ad in the newspaper for a free pony. They soon call the owner, who tells them to go to her house. As they go to her house, they soon meet a Lipizzaner stallion who seems very friendly. Even though their mom doesn’t know about this, later in the book they convince her to let them keep Smokey (the horse) [SPOILER ALERT] after Queenie begs mom to keep the horse, after she fell off it and broke her neck.
The characters in this novel experience both pain and joy while keeping this stallion, who soon gets gelded by force from another horse owner. They keep the horse to keep their minds away from their father, who kept them as a lovely family, until one day he left for a new family. Nat does see him driving with his new family in his car. The reason why they dislike him is because he left the family with barely any money nor food to eat, being forced to live in a run down house. The pony does change their lives, making them happier than ever, until, a horse from the barn dies from the barn falling on him. One of the horse owners (the one who made them geld Smokey) warns them that it isn’t safe to keep Smokey there anymore, but they still do. A fire happens at the barn, and it leaves them no choice but to either sell Smokey or find a new stable. They couldn’t find a new stable that was both nearby and cheap, meanwhile, they need to move to an apartment because they don’t have enough money.
I recommend this book to anyone who is up for a sad story, likes horses, or is willing to read a story about both sadness and happiness. It is also at the Grove Junior High library.

Eleanor is the new girl in town. She's a little self conscious about her appearance but that doesn't stop Park from offering her a seat on the bus. She doesn't have a very good family life and her step dad, Richie, isn't the nicest man. On the other hand, Park's family is a little more put together. His dad may be strict but his mom has a nice little salon in their garage. So when Park first sees Eleanor on the bus, he gets a little annoyed because she doesn't know where to sit. They sit by each other and for the first few weeks don't say a word to each other. When he brings his comics he realizes that she likes to read them too. Who knew a comic would lead them to..... well, I shouldn't say anymore. You'll just have to read and find out.

I think this is an excellent book for people who just love a heart warming story. Also, this book makes you wonder what is going to happen or what did happen. This book is about a boy named August Pullman. Auggie is the nickname his friends and family call him. Auggie lives with his older sister (Olivia) and Auggie calls her Via, his dog (Daisy), his mom, and his dad. Auggie was born with a syndrome. The best way that Olivia describes it is “Craniofacial Abnormality” face. August never went to school before and now his mom is ready for him to start 5th grade. Both parents are very worried, but ready for all the consequences that will happen. August at first does not want to go to school, but his mom made appointment for them to go see the school. The school principal of Beecher Prep middle school is Mr. Tushman. Mr. Tushman picked three kids at his school to show August around the school and be a buddy for a little while. The three kids Mr. Tushman choose where Charlotte, Jack Will, and Julian. When August and his mom got to the school and went inside, Mr. Tushman greeted them at his office. When the three kids saw August they were frightened a little and they were curious about what had happened to his face. Mr. Tushman told Charlotte, Jack, and Julian to take August on a tour of the whole school. During the tour, Julian was mean to August and Jack was nice.
[Spoiler ALERT]
After the tour, August did not want to tell anyone about what Julian said. The school year started a few weeks later a Beecher Prep middle school. August was excited, but scared. His first day of school, he got stared at a lot, but otherwise it was good. August sat next to Jack in every class and they were buddies. At lunch time August was sitting at a table with a girl named Summer. Jack sat at a lunch table with his own friends, but not August. The school year went on and the school kids got used to August’s face and weren't staring that often. Then Halloween came and August loved Halloween very much. The principle let the students dress up in Halloween costumes, but the students had to follow the dress code directions. August told Jack he would dress up as “Boba Fett.” Halloween came, but August just changed into his bleeding scream costume. That custom had a mask and a robe. When he arrived, he over heard Jack and Julian talking. Jack was saying mean stuff about Auggie. Jack and August have not talk since then, but Jack does not have the slightest clue why. Everything was going fine, until Julian was teasing Jack about August. Jack punched Julian and knocked out his baby tooth. This lead to a friend war. After Jack punched Julian more and more gossip was told about Jack. That lead to friends turning their backs and being apart of Julian’s little friend side. At this point Julian and Jack where enemies. Then Jack explained everything to August and they became friends again. Jack began to sit with August and Summer at lunch. There was a field trip and August went. The field trip was to a camp overnight. Somethings didn’t go so well. Once they got home it was August’s graduation. August was happy the year was over he was going to return to Beecher Prep middle school next year. He is also happy he made a lot of friends at school that year.

How History is Invented: The Salem Witch Trials by Lori Lee Wilson
This book is about a village named Salem and witchcraft in Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1692. The witchcraft there was very convincing people always think that when your crops dried out it was witchcraft or when a somebody murdered a person it was always behind witchcraft. In one famous Greek story a witch named Medea was a young beautiful daughter of a king. According to the myth, Medea helped Jason capture the Golden Fleece. The famous golden wool of a flying ram. Jason and Medea had two son and lived happily for 10 years. Then Jason fell in love with Glauke, the daughter of another king. Jason abandoned Medea to marry Glauke. Medea took revenge by murdering her own two sons with a knife so Jason would have no heirs. This book has a lot of stories about witchcraft and shows how it could have a huge impact on human mind. This book was interesting because it shows how a average person can actually be a killer. If your smart enough you could find out the clues and know the true before it's to late. I would recommend his book to people who like Science fiction.

Who Was Anne Frank? by Anne Abramson
Anne Frank, is one of the most inspiring, most bravest fifteen year old girl that I ever read about! This is a biography on “Who Was Anne Frank”, By Anne Abramson and illustrated by Nancy Harrison. Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in the city of Frankfurt, Germany, where her father’s family had lived for a very long time. Her father was very proud of being German. He expected his children to live in Germany, and their children after them. But that did not happen. The Franks’ lives were turned upside down in seconds. They had to flee from their country. They went into hiding for two years. They lost everything that was dear to them... all because they were Jewish, and a man named Adolf Hitler was in power. Hitler hated Jewish people. All Jewish people. Which led to the holocaust. While Anne’s mom, dad, and sister, were in hiding from Hitler’s soldiers. Anne started to write in her diary that she called “Kitty”. She told kitty everything-all about a boy she liked, books she enjoyed, how her day was. Everything. Kitty was a friend who never argued and always listened. And because of Anne’s diary, we have just a glimpse in the past. Anne Frank’s life was short though. She was only fifteen years old when she died in 1945. If you want to learn more about Anne Frank read the book. In memory of all the children who, like Anne, had their life ended in the war. I enjoyed this book because no matter what people did, Anne Frank always saw the bright side in everyone. In her diary she wrote,“In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.” I think the theme is to be brave and to always look on the brighter side. I recommend this book to people who like to learn about history.

A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer
The book i will be writing about is called A Child Called it, by Dave Pelzer. This book is about a 10 year old boy named Dave Pelzer who was brutally beaten and starved by his mother for a very long time. Ever since Dave was seven his mom made his life miserable. She makes him run to school every day so he wont get a chance to steal food from other kids lunches. Dave always stole food from the cafeteria but one day [Spoiler ALERT] he stole some sausages from the cafeteria and that same day his mother found out he was stealing food so when he came home from school his mother took him to the bathroom and made him throw up what he ate and he did as he was told but her mother went and got a plate picked up some barf and made him eat it and he did, he ate it all. If you want to know more you should read the book.
The genre of this book is realistic fiction. I really enjoyed this book because the character dave he always gets up no matter how hard his mom hurts him or how long his mom waits to give him food he never gives up. He just picks up again and stays strong. I learned from this book that never give up always keep trying and just keep going no matter how hard things get just keep going. The main characters in this book are dave pelzer, and his mother. I would recommend this book to people who like Realistic fiction books.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul by Jeff Kinney
The title of the book that I read is called Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul by Jeff Kinney. The Genre of this book is fiction. Greg is in middle school and is a good kid but, nothing ever goes right for him and bad things always happen to him. In this story Greg goes on a miserable adventure. They go on a road trip that gets worse and worse. They got a pig, had problems with seagulls, had issues with another family and had problems at a water park. I enjoyed this book because it is funny and it reminds me of a show called The Middle. Just like this family, nothing ever goes right for the Heck family on The Middle. One time the Hecks tried to go to Disney World but, everything goes wrong. I would recommend this book to people who like to read funny stories and to people who like to read about a road trip going completely wrong.

The Girl Who Was Supposed To Die by April Henry is a fictional book. The book is about a girl who goes into a fugue state (amnesia caused by a horrendous experience) after being told that they killed her brother. [Spoiler Alert] They meaning the man in oxblood shoes, a man in brown boots, and the one person you would never expect, her supposed Aunt Elizabeth. The girl’s name is Cady. Cady is helped by a boy named Tyler or Ty. They are tracked by a cell phone Cady stole from the man she almost killed. Cady’s family is on the run without her, because by that time it was too late. Her parent’s job has been taken over by people who plan to sell a vaccine after they contaminate the air. All of the conflicts are external conflicts. I recommend this book to people who like to be surprised with every page they turn and people who enjoy horror books and the occasional twist. I also recommend this to people who like books with a happy ending and the occasional reading of how it felt to break the arm of someone you thought you killed. I enjoyed this book because there was action and confusion from the very first page. The book was also very entertaining and kept me wondering what was coming next.
